Clothing: summer vs winter on the west coast
June–September: T-shirts, shorts, light jumper for windy evenings, rain shell (yes, it rains sometimes), flip-flops + trainers for rocky paths.
April–May & October: Add fleece, jeans or joggers, warmer jacket for post-surf; you will feel cool in 4/3 wetsuits when the wind blows.
November–March: 5/3 territory — pack beanie, warm layers, waterproof jacket, gloves if you chill fast (most locals skip surf gloves, but you do you).
Footwear: Paths to some beaches are steep or stony — something with grip beats smooth-soled fashion trainers.
