Solo Weekend in Aljezur? How to Get a Board Delivered Without a Week Minimum

Booking a solo Friday-to-Monday in an Aljezur Airbnb is more common every year. Portuguese long weekends, the Faro–Aljezur car rental workflow, the Lisbon-based digital nomad crowd running down for a break — you're not alone. But you are alone in the specific sense that most surf-rental services in this area price and staff themselves for families and 2+ groups on week-long trips. Advertised free delivery often disappears when you're just one person on 3 days. This is a guide to the small-order market and how to actually get a board dropped at your door for a short solo stay.

The small-order problem

Delivery is not free labour. If a business has a van, a driver, a stock of boards, and an accommodation address, the economics of "drive out to Vale da Telha to hand over one board" have to balance somehow. Every operator solves this differently:

• Minimum term (e.g. "free delivery on 7+ day rentals only"). If you booked 3 days, delivery isn't free — sometimes isn't offered at all.
• Minimum quantity (e.g. "€50/week per board, minimum 2 boards"). Great for a couple, not helpful for a solo traveller.
• Delivery fee (a flat €10–30 charged separately). Fine, but if you're only spending €54 on a 3-day rental, adding €25 delivery each way means you pay more for logistics than gear.
• Pickup-only for small orders (i.e. you drive to their shop). Kills the point of a delivery service.

None of these are unreasonable business decisions. But they all mean the same thing: the "free delivery" advertised on the homepage might not apply to you.

The logistics for a solo Friday-to-Monday

You land at Faro on Thursday evening, pick up a rental car, drive 90 minutes to Aljezur, and check into your Airbnb around 8pm. You'd love to surf first thing Friday. Here's how the delivery works:

1. Book Wednesday or earlier. Send us the accommodation address, your dates, and either the calculator's recommendation or a description of your level (height, weight, experience). We reply within 24 hours in EN / FR / DE / NL / PT.
2. Confirm. Once we agree on gear, we send a payment link (card, Apple Pay, iDEAL, Wero, MB WAY) or you tell us you'd rather pay cash on arrival.
3. We drop the gear Thursday evening. You get a WhatsApp when it's at your door. Board and wetsuit are ready to go when you wake up Friday.
4. You surf Fri / Sat / Sun. If the board doesn't fit you after day one, message us — we bring a replacement free (level-match guarantee).
5. Monday morning we collect before your checkout. You drive to Faro without a wet suit stuffed into your suitcase.

Total interaction time: two WhatsApp exchanges. No shop queue, no driving 20 minutes to hand a board back on Sunday afternoon when you'd rather be having lunch.

What weekend Aljezur is actually like

Off-season Fri–Sun trips (October–May, excluding Christmas) get you the best of Aljezur: empty lineups, mid-sized swells at Arrifana, Bordeira firing on the right combination, and enough restaurants open in Aljezur town to have a fine dinner without booking. Peak-season (July–August) weekends are busier — Amado especially fills up with schools — but Aljezur is still a quieter option than Ericeira or Peniche on the same dates.

Two forecasts matter for a short trip: swell and wind. A weekend with even 1.5 m of swell at 12+ seconds and any offshore wind angle gives you real waves on at least one day. A flat weekend with onshore wind gives you nothing — but at least you'll have swum and eaten well. Check magicseaweed / Surfline / Windguru a few days before you fly. Airbnb specifics

We deliver to any accommodation address in the four covered towns. In practice that means:

• Aljezur town — the old town, and the newer district by the market. Any short-term rental within the town boundary.
• Arrifana — the cliff-top houses and apartments overlooking the beach.
• Vale da Telha — the villa estate south of Aljezur. This is where most family bookings land; also common for solo travellers because the villas are affordable off-season.
• Monte Clérigo — the little beach village north of Arrifana.

If your Airbnb is in a slightly different town (Rogil, Odeceixe, Carrapateira) message us — we frequently extend delivery case-by-case, especially for a short stay when we're already on the road for other drops.
